Abstract
The behavior of a ship propulsion shafting system under cyclic loading is studied theoretically and a mathematical model is built. The model is used to simulate the shafting system on a 64000 t bulk carrier. The results of simulation are examined against the actual measurements, analyzing the dynamic performance, the characteristics and law of motion, to verify the accuracy of the mathematical model.
